Step 1:
The first step is only necessary if you are trying to play some of the older DirectPlay/DirectX games. With these older games it is necessary to disable the UPnP option Linksys has added. It is supposed to support DirectX and DirectPlay, and does, however doesn't allow all neccessary ports through to the joining computer. Hosting works most of the time, however some players may not be able to connect. To disable, UPnP is found on the "Password" page. (I don't agree with the placement of that but ...) After you select DISABLE it, click on APPLY.
**Important Note** - If you use Microsoft's FS2004 Century of Flight or newer DirectPlay games, the Universal Plug-N-Play (UPnP) option within most routers (such as Linksys as shown) will correctly forward the ports and does NOT need to be disabled as stated above. If this is your scenario, you may skip this step. (And possibly this entire configuration tutorial.)
